LGBTQ2S+
As a member of the LGBTQ2S+ community, I understand many of the difficulties of being a member of a marginalized community and the difficulty in finding a safe space to talk about and address life issues.
I have worked with many out clients and many who are questioning/exploring their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. I do not subscribe to bi erasure or the idea that there are only two genders.
Therapy Goals
Sometimes LGBTQ2S+ individuals come to therapy to talk about issues that are in some way related to being LGBTQ2S+ (ie. discrimination, fear, shame, rejection, trauma) and sometimes they come to talk about unrelated concerns. Too often, therapists connect any issue to being LGBTQ2S+ and that becomes the focus of therapy.
I understand that a person can be gay/lesbian/bi/transgender/non-binary and have unrelated concerns that they wish to focus on. My goal in therapy is to help the individual address the issue they want to address while providing a safe, non-judgmental, compassionate space to do so.
